Soo J. Hong was born in Seoul and raised in Los Angeles, where she currently resides. Her fiction appears or is forthcoming in Chicago Quarterly Review, The Summerset Review and Narrative, where she is an assistant fiction editor. Recent stories have placed in the final ten for the 2025 StoryQuarterly Fiction prize, as well as two stories placing simultaneously for ScreenCraft’s 2025 Cinematic Prose Writing Competition.

She has been honored with a nomination for UCLA’s James Kirkwood Literary Prize in Creative Writing and is a 2025 PEN America Emerging Voices Workshop Fellow.

This summer she will be attending the Community of Writers and Bread Loaf. Soo is currently at work on her first novel.
