Soo J. Hong was born in Seoul and raised in Los Angeles, where she currently resides. Her fiction appears or is forthcoming in Chicago Quarterly Review, The Summerset Review and Narrative, where she is an assistant fiction editor. Recent stories have been shortlisted for the StoryQuarterly Fiction prize and the Iowa Review Award. Additionally two of her short stories placed simultaneously in ScreenCraft’s 2025 Cinematic Prose Writing Competition.
Soo has been honored with a nomination for UCLA’s James Kirkwood Literary Prize in Creative Writing and has been supported by PEN America Emerging Voices Los Angeles.
She is an alumna of the Community of Writers and Bread Loaf and is currently at work on her first novel.
