Soo J. Hong was born in Seoul and raised in Los Angeles, where she currently resides. Her fiction appears in Chicago Quarterly Review, The Summerset Review and Narrative, where she is an assistant fiction editor. Recent stories were selected as a finalist for the Iowa Review Award and shortlisted for the StoryQuarterly Fiction prize. Additionally, two of her short stories placed simultaneously in ScreenCraft’s Cinematic Prose Writing Competition.

Soo has been honored with a nomination for UCLA’s James Kirkwood Literary Prize in Creative Writing, and her writing has received support from PEN America Emerging Voices Los Angeles.

She is an alumna of the Community of Writers and Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and is currently at work on her first novel.
